The Sails extend the summer

Summer slowly deserts France. The whole country slowly enters autumn, and turns the page of summer happiness. Everything? Not quite. Saint-Tropez, the small Varois village, still resists the fall invader. And of all the bodies of water on the sailing planet, we rush towards the gulf to enjoy one last time the happiness of the regatta, the pleasure of the beautiful sails, and the contagious passion of the seafarers. The Voiles de Saint-Tropez 24th of the name are open to yachting enthusiasts and crowds who are captivated by the timeless spectacle of a gulf sparkling with a thousand sails. The 2022 edition renews its two-week formula between classic yachts and ultra modern Maxis yachts. It is based on its unmissable events that now give the legend, the arrival on Sunday afternoon of the classics entered in the Coupe d’Automne du Yacht Club de France, then later, its Rolex Trophy, its Challenge Day or its Centenary Trophy.

250 sailing boats and their nearly 3,000 sailors will not leave Saint-Tropez without having once again warmly celebrated the special spirit of International yachting.

160 years and always in search of innovations Far from falling asleep on its achievements, the Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez (which this year celebrates the 160th anniversary of the club’s origins), which has organized the Voiles de Saint-Tropez since 1999, continues to evolve with an ever stronger environmental commitment. A number of new actions will thus punctuate the fine fortnight ahead. “Boaters are on the front line of respect for the marine environment that they know and experience on a daily basis,” said President Pierre Roinson. “Sailing is a vector of strong environmental messages and, as an organizer, we want to support it with a pro-active approach that is shared and supported by the commitment of our partners.” These include the following major initiatives: the installation of geo-positionable buoys without impact on the seabed, a “zero paper” race committee, a more eco-responsible event village than ever before, or the elimination of fireworks.
