It is indeed this Saturday, September 27, that the starting gun will sound for the 27th edition of Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez. Many of the 245 guests of the Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Nautique de Saint-Tropez have already arrived in the famous port of the Var, ready to showcase, in all their splendour, the Modern Maxi and Traditional yachts gathered for the largest get-together on the Mediterranean seaboard. From 9:00 a.m. this Saturday, the Voiles Village will open its doors to Tropezians and competitors alike, as well as to the public.<\/strong>

245 competitors and 19 trophies<\/strong>
People come here to stroll, to admire\u2014and above all, to race. At Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez, the regatta makes its entrance as early as Sunday with the arrival of the classics sailing in from Cannes as part of the Yacht Club de France Autumn Cup. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday (except for the Maxis, for whom it is a day off), Friday and Saturday are devoted to fleet racing across the 19 categories, with each winner taking home a Trophy.
Three of them carry a particular prestige.
– The Rolex Trophy will be awarded to the best traditional yacht in the Big Boats category. It is notably in this class that spectators will be able to admire the manoeuvres of the schooner Atlantic<\/em>, 65 metres long, making her first appearance.
– The Edmond de Rothschild Trophy will reward the best of the Maxi 1s\u2014giant, exceptional yachts, a distillation of elegance and technology, several of which measure more than 30 metres in length.
– The BMW Trophy, meanwhile, is awarded to the best Modern yacht in the IRC 0 category, i.e. the highest-rated boats such as the TP52s.

Thursday, a special day<\/strong>
Dedicated to the Challenges, Thursday remains a symbolic day, a legacy of the Nioulargue, born of the friendly clash between the Swan 44 Pride<\/em> and the 12mJI Ikra<\/em> in 1981. The Corinthian spirit will once again blow through Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez this year with the challenge pitting Il Moro di Venezia<\/em> (1976 Maxi IOR) against Mariella<\/em> (1938 Bermudian yawl) for the Club 55 Cup, as well as the much-anticipated match racing between the two new Wally Rocket 51s.
Lastly, the Gstaad Yacht Club Trophy\u2014an exceptional regatta reserved for centenarians and organised by the race committee of the Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Nautique de Saint-Tropez\u2014takes place on that same Thursday, with staggered starts from 12:30 p.m. This is the fourteenth edition of this event, run in the \u201cpursuit race\u201d format. A new centenarian will join the ranks this year, Leonore<\/em>, a Q Class built to Anker plans in 1925.

Numbers and letters <\/em><\/strong>
This year, 81 Traditional yachts, 125 Moderns and 41 Maxis have been invited to race by the Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Nautique de Saint-Tropez. A dense fleet, whose class coding has changed to align with other championships contested in the Mediterranean and beyond. <\/em>
Among the Moderns, from the highest ratings to the lowest, we now speak of IRC 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4. As for the Maxis, they will be split this year into five classes\u2014Maxi 1, Maxi Grand Prix, Maxi 3, Maxi 4 and Maxi 5\u2014in accordance with the rules of the International Maxi Association.<\/em>
