Indeed, whilst the sailors were doubling up on their mooring warps and the Cap Dramont signal station recorded gusts of up to 55 knots, the Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez quickly organised a prize-giving in the shelter of the Place des Lices. It was the perfect opportunity to cross paths with some of the top sailors on the planet, winners of the America’s Cup, the Route du Rhum, single-handed and crewed round the world races, Olympic medallists, world champions, match racing stars and even the recent winner of the Solitaire du Figaro.
A fabulous way to round off this latest action-packed edition of Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez that more than fulfilled its brief once again.

Pierre Roinson, President of the Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez
“Everyone aboard these boats loves the sea and yachting”

“This 2025 vintage has been especially successful. We’d never had so many big boats among the 81-strong Tradition yachts and the fleet of 41 Maxis was both dense and a very high standard. The breeze was certainly a little light but it was enough for the event to be run in the three large groups.
The presence of so many very big classic yachts was an unknown quantity and I was blown away to see the easy with which a boat like the schooner Atlantic moves. She always got off to an excellent start and paraded in front of the quayside throughout the week to the great delight of all the spectators. It’s safe to say that they really worked their magic! Everyone aboard these boats loves the sea and yachting and they behave in such a lovely way. Three thousand crewmen and women came together at Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez and they celebrated in style with no incidents to lament. The famous Corinthian spirit which Patrice de Colmont cherishes was very much in evidence. On top of that, the Friday fireworks display, which lasted more than 20 minutes, was a wonderful gift to round off proceedings.
We’re very pleased to have played host to our prestigious new partner, Edmond de Rothschild. They really got involved and were ever-present. The crew soirée they organised on Friday with the boules competition and the participation of so many sailors proved to be a big hit. They are very familiar with Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez as some of the Gitana craft have secured victory in the Nioulargue in the past. They have also partnered the event before and immediately grasped the kind of spirit we’re keen to preserve here. Charles Caudrelier’s presence here this weekend was especially important because his calm, accessible demeanour really opens up this milieu. The celebrities who come along and chat with everyone about this shared passion for boating is very much in keeping with the spirit of Les Voiles.
A final favourite? To say nothing of Atlantic, that’s a tough ask! I’d like to give a special mention to all the passionate boat owners, including Jean-Pierre Dréau, who has just purchasedSumurun and is eager to get her out sailing in order to preserve her. We’re incredibly lucky to have owners here who are all too aware of the value of these boats’ heritage and they will always receive a warm welcome at Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez.”

Georges Korhel, Principal Race Officer
“It was my 27th edition and I have not denied myself a good thing!”

“Year in year out, we make the most of the previous edition to raise our game. We’ve made stellar progress among the Maxis in terms of managing the boats and courses, as well as our relationship with the IMA (International Maxi Association), which includes keeping them informed of our intentions. The results are very positive.
The committees have been coming here for four or five years and they have a very good handle on the event, which is very unique. The racing areas and the exclusion zones have also been very well managed among the Modern and Tradition fleets and it has to be said that the competitors have behaved very well. They stay well back from the red buoys and respond quickly when it’s their turn so we get into a very good rhythm when launching the starts.
As far as the Modern and Tradition yachts are concerned, we will now have to consider how to develop the courses further so that going forward we can avoid long reaches where those heading down the course cross tacks with those coming up the course. It’s also a shame that we can’t offer the big IRC boats their own windward-leeward courses too but it all becomes very complicated given the number of entries and the limited space at our disposal.
Also up for discussion, is the fact that I’m advocating a slightly different system for dividing up the Tradition yachts. We have nine classes currently but there needs to be five or six I believe. We’d have to work through the different scenarios with the measurers and try to adapt but that would take things in the right direction.
Friday’s Big Boat start for the Rolex Trophy is something that will be etched in my memory for a long time to come. There were some complaints about annulling the first start but the second was absolutely incredible. Having the three-masted schooner Atlantic and the very big boats on the same starting line was a bit of a worry for us but everything went smoothly actually, resulting in some
